Raw Wood Studio

FAQ

The questions I hear most often

Short and to the point. If your question is not here — write or call, I answer personally.

01How long does a project take?

We agree the date when quoting — it depends on the workshop queue, the availability of the right wood and the scale of the project. A single table is a different story from a façade or a whole interior. If the piece has to be ready by a specific date, say so in your enquiry.

02Can I bring my own wood?

Yes — boards from your grandfather's barn, beams from a demolition, an old tabletop. I assess the condition of the wood and tell you honestly what can be made from it. Such pieces have the best stories.

03Where does the reclaimed wood come from?

From barns, sheds, cellars and demolitions — mostly in eastern Poland. Some of it I buy from people taking down old buildings (see Sell your wood), some I reclaim myself. Before it becomes furniture it is cleaned, brushed and seasoned.

04Is old wood safe indoors?

Every board is cleaned mechanically, rotten ends are cut off, nails pulled and the wood seasoned. Only dry, sound wood goes indoors — the patina and nail marks stay, because that is the point, but they are purely cosmetic.

05How do I care for an oiled tabletop?

A damp cloth and a mild cleaner are enough — no harsh chemicals or scouring. Wipe spills straight away and put hot pots on mats. Every so often refresh the top with a thin coat of oil — I show you how at handover.

06Is the furniture solid wood?

Tops and structures — yes, solid wood: oak, ash, walnut or reclaimed timber, on steel or wooden bases. Lacquered board appears only on request, as a contrast (as in the chest with a reclaimed-wood front).

07How do quoting and ordering work?

You write through the form or the table configurator, or you call. We talk about the room, dimensions and wood, and you get a proposal with a price and date. Once accepted we settle the details, and during the work I send photos from the workshop.

08Do you deliver and install?

Yes — delivery and on-site installation, from a table to a façade or a reclaimed-plank wall. I mostly work in the Lublin region and nearby, but pieces travel further too — cost and date are agreed with the quote.

09Do you make wedding and event decorations?

Yes — reclaimed-plank backdrops, illuminated LOVE letters, wedding arches, day-plan boards, signs. Write with the date and venue and we will work out what makes sense in that space.

10Will you make a piece from my own design or a photo from the internet?

Yes, the inspiration can be anything — a photo, a sketch, dimensions on a piece of paper. I do not copy one-to-one, but translate the idea into the wood I have and into what will last. The hard ideas are my favourite.

Have another question?

A short message with a photo of the room and rough dimensions works best. I answer the phone during workshop hours and usually reply to e-mails the same day.
